A fabulous figural ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! Crafted in vibrant 14kt yellow gold, this charming piece adorns a vibrant amethyst at the center of fantastic carved design. The stone is prong set and displays a vivid purple hue with facets that catch the light beautifully with every turn. Decorating each shoulder is an impish carved devil's face embellished with 3-dimensional detail. The smiling devil displays realistic features including a pointed goatee, protruding nose, textured hair, two beady eyes, and each horn also acts as a prong to hold the amethyst, a fabulous detail! The end of each goatee trails into a smoothly polished band that graduates slightly towards the back, and stamped inside of the shank is a "14K" gold purity mark and a faded set of engraved initials. A wonderful figural ring, it would make a wickedly fun addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring currently has two sizing beads inside the shank, and fits a finger size ranging between 8.5 to 9, but could easily be resized if desired. The centerpiece rests about 1/4" above the finger when worn. The band measures 3mm at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The amethyst is intact and securely set.
