Art Nouveau 14kt Moonstone + Diamond Four Leaf Clover Pendant
Four leaf clovers are a unique type of clover variety in comparison to the commonly found three leaf species. Traditionally, they are believed to bring good luck to whomever finds them, particularly when they are found by chance. Each of the four leaves bears its own special meaning, representing faith, hope, love, and luck. Throughout the ages, the image of the four leaf clover has become a recurring motif in jewelry, dating back to as early as the Victorian era. Today, they are still collected as popular charms that serve as symbols for good luck.
A fabulous four leaf clover pendant from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! This lovely piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and comprised of heart-shaped moonstones which together form a charming four leaf clover. Each bezel set moonstone rests in an open-back setting, showcasing their pale blue translucent color and iridescent flash when they catch the light. Adorning the center of the clover is a sparkling old Mine Cut diamond, and extending from the bottom is a curled "stem," a lovely realistic detail. The entire pendant is framed with an ornate graduating beadwork border which carries along to the length of the "stem" and a simple bail is attached at the top, perfect for hanging from a complimentary chain. A fabulous and "lucky" Art Nouveau pendant that blends seamlessly into modern day fashion, it would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1 1/8" long (including the bail at the top), measures about 1" wide, and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The diamond and moonstones are intact and securely set, and the bail is in good working condition.
