Art Nouveau 14kt Opal + Rock Crystal Chain Necklace
A fabulous and unusual chain necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This attractive piece is comprised of opal cabochons that alternate with strands of ornate 14kt yellow gold chain. Each opal link is split in the center, separated by a faceted rock crystal spacer. The alluring opals display incredibly vibrant colors that flash and shimmer in the light, including shades of green, blue, violet, and red. At the back is a spring-ring clasp, which makes it possible to hang a complementary pendant or locket if desired. A very versatile piece perfect for everyday wear, it would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures approximately 25 1/2" long. Each opal bead and rock crystal spacer section measures about 3/8" long and 1/4" at their widest. The chain has an overall weight of 12.8 grams.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold chain or the opal and rock quartz crystal links. The watch clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
