A beautiful and charming pendant from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! Crafted in brass, this unusual piece is comprised of 3 round discs, which slide apart to reveal an amusing sentiment. The exterior disc features a lovely image of a portly pig, detailed with soft pink and rich black enamel, with the French words "LES TROIS AMIS" (which translates to "The Three Friends") in curved block letters at the base. When opened, the next disc displays a second image of a pig with similar enamel coloring, resting near a lovely red flower on the ground. The final disc holds a round mirror, revealing a lighthearted way of humoring the wearer into realizing that they are the third "friend" in this witty equation. The contrast of the smooth brass background and the lovely enameled images is beautiful, and finishing the design is a simple bail at the top, perfect for adding the piece to a favorite chain. Whether worn for the wearer's own amusement, or given as a gift, this unique pendant will charm everyone and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1" long (including the bail at the top), and measures 3/4" in diameter and is about 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the brass setting. There is some very slight chips to the enamel on the pigs, however it is hardly noticeable when worn and does not detract from the overall beauty of the piece. Given the age of the piece, the mirror shows some significant wear, however the wearer can still see their own reflection. If desired, the mirror could easily be replaced, however to keep the authenticity of the piece, the original mirror remains. The bail is secure and in good working order.
