Arts and Crafts Hungarian Gilded Silver Turquoise + Pearl Earrings
Beautiful Austro-Hungarian earrings from the Arts & Crafts (ca1910s) era! Crafted in gilded silver, these unique earrings display an incredibly ornate and bold design. Each begins with a silver surmount which holds a gorgeous robin's egg blue turquoise stone. The topper attaches to a sterling silver earring wire and dangling below, is a delicate chain holding a large, ornate link which swings freely from the base. The fabulous circular design features seven natural blister pearls which graduate slightly, each bezel set encircling a small turquoise stone at the center. Elongated bars adorned with rich wire and bead work burst from the center in a fan-like manner, each ending is a curled wirework scroll. These unusual earrings have lovely movement when worn and would be a fabulous addition to any collection that includes traditional Austro-Hungarian jewelry!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 5/8" long (including the wires) and measures 1 5/8" at its widest point.
Condition: The earrings remain is good overall antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the pearls or turquoise stones, all of which are secure and intact. Due to their handmade nature, the silver wire and beadwork accents exhibit a small amount of inconsistencies and wear, however, none which is significantly noticeable when worn.
