Early Retro 14kt Gold Pearl Enameled Skull Necklace
A wonderful pendant necklace from the early Retro (ca1930s) era! Originally a pin, this unusual piece has since been converted into a stylish conversion piece for modern day wear. The necklace is made of 14kt yellow gold, and features a bold skull pendant that hangs from a complimentary gold chain. Possibly originally worn as a fraternity pin, the gold skull is accompanied by a red enameled crown and a black triangle (or a Greek "Delta") on his forehead. The skull is surrounded by a wreathed frame which is encircled by lustrous natural seed pearls, completing the mystical design perfectly. Two amethyst stones act as the eyes of the skull and a modern gold chain attaches at the top, fastening with a lobster clasp in the back. The back of the pendant has the hand engraved letters "AO" and initials "E.P.G.". This wonderful and unusual pendant necklace would make a one-of-a-kind addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant measures approximately 5/8" wide and approximately 5/8" tall and the chain measure 16" in length.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, chain, or clasp or to the stones or pearls, and the enameling remains in excellent condition.
