Edwardian 14kt Diamond + Ruby Square Head Nail Hinged Bangle Bracelet
A fabulous nail bracelet from the Edwardian (ca1908) era! The square head nail design has been replicated by Gucci since the 1960's with its origins in the equestrian world, which is modeled after the nails used to hold the horse's shoe in place. This bangle bracelet is crafted in 14kt rose gold and depicts a square head nail that curls around the wrist, forming a striking design. Resting near the head of the nail is a raspberry red ruby, flanked by two old European Cut diamonds, each prong set and resting in a box setting, creating a perfect compliment to the smoothly polished surface. Stamped on the inside of the bracelet is "PAT. JAN 28.08," "14K," beside a maker's mark, "F." A push clasp on the side is seamlessly incorporated into the design, and two safety latches on either side, along with a safety chain adds extra security. A classic piece that translates perfectly into a modern day style, it could be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets, and would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: When closed, the inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and 2" tall, and would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The front of the bracelet (where the nail rests) measures about 5/8" wide and the back measures a little under 1/4" wide. The bracelet measures approximately 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold setting and the ruby and diamonds are intact and securely set. The push clasp, safety latches, and safety chain are secure and in good working condition. Two very small dings can be seen on one edge of the bangle, however they are not noticeable when worn. Additionally, there is very faint discoloration on the back of the bangle, which is also not noticeable when worn.
