Edwardian 14kt White Gold Etched Square Head Nail Hinged Bracelet
A fabulous and unusual nail bracelet from the Edwardian (ca1908) era! The square head nail design has been replicated by Gucci since the 1960's with its origins in the equestrian world, modeled after the nails used to hold the horses shoe in place. This bangle bracelet is crafted in 14kt white gold and depicts a square head nail that curls around the wrist, forming a striking design. Gorgeous etching graces the surface, providing a soft, lace-like textured appearance which carries around the entire length of the piece. The clasp is seamlessly incorporated into the design, hidden within the band, and a hinge can be found on the other side of the bracelet. Stamped on the inside is "PAT. JAN 28.08," "14K," and a maker's mark, "F." A classic piece that translates perfectly into a modern day style, it could be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets, and would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: When closed, the inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and 2 1/8" tall. The front of the bracelet (where the nail rests) is about 5/8" wide and the back measures a little under 1/4" wide. The bracelet measures approximately 1/8" thick. The bracelet would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the white gold setting. The clasp and hinge are secure and in good working condition.
