Edwardian 15kt/Platinum Natural Ceylon Sapphire + Diamond Ring 13.37ct center
A truly spectacular yellow sapphire and diamond ring from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! Crafted in 18kt yellow gold and platinum, this beautiful piece adorns a stunning 13.37ct Ceylon sapphire at the center of a sparkling diamond border. The Cushion Mixed Cut stone is of Sri Lankan origin, exhibiting an incredible vibrant yellow color that is entirely natural, with no indication of heat treatment. A border of old Mine Cut diamonds surrounds the center stone, collectively weighing approximately 3.00ctw, forming an incredible sparkling array. The prong set diamonds rest in a platinum setting, creating a lovely mixed metals appeal and finishing the design are scalloped cut-outs along the sides, and a smoothly polished band which tapers slightly towards the back. Accompanying the ring is a Prestige Gemstone Report (Document No. 8089551) issued by American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) in June 2019, which confirms the sapphire to be a natural, unheated stone of Sri Lankan origin. A magnificent ring, it would look incredible worn on special occasions, or could make an exquisite gemstone engagement piece!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size scant 6.75, but could be easily be resized. The sapphire and diamond centerpiece measures a little more than 3/4" wide, about 7/8" tall, and rests 1/2" above the finger when worn. The graduating band measures approximately 1.5mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and platinum setting. The sapphire and diamonds are all intact and securely set. The sapphire contains a few naturally occurring inclusions which aren't noticeable when the ring is worn.
