Edwardian French Platinum Sapphire + Diamond Square Ring 1.97ct center
A stunning sapphire and diamond ring from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! Crafted in platinum, the square-shaped centerpiece features a gorgeous sapphire at the center of a diamond border. The prong-set sapphire weighs 1.97ct and exhibits a beautiful cornflower blue hue. Surrounding the stone is an airline cutout, creating the illusion that the sapphire "floats" at the center. The square-shaped border is lined with 12 sparkling old Mine Cut diamonds in a micro-prong setting, which weigh approximately 1.00ctw collectively. A swirled filigree motif decorates the sides of the gallery, and a smoothly polished band graduates slightly towards the back. Two small French touch marks (an eagle head and a dog head) are stamped on the outside of the shank at the back. An incredible statement piece, this breathtaking piece would look spectacular worn on special occasions, or could make a unique gemstone engagement ring!
Measurements: The ring has a large finger size of 8.5, but could easily be resized if desired. The square-shaped face measures approximately 1/2" wide and tall, and rests about 1/4" above the finger when worn. The graduated band measures 1mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting. The sapphire and all of the diamonds are intact and securely set.
