Edwardian Platinum Sapphire + Diamond Ring 4ct
A stunning sapphire and diamond ring from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This beautiful piece is crafted in platinum and features an approximated 4.00ct oval sapphire at the center of a diamond encrusted border. The faceted sapphire is bezel set with an open back, and displays a rich deep blue hue that pops against the diamond border. Sixteen old European Cut diamonds surround the center stone in a shared prong setting, collectively weighing 0.70ctw, and catch the light with every turn. Fine milgrained detail adorns the edge of the round diamonds and swirling filigree wirework graces the girdle. A decorative airline cutout is visible from the sides of the mounting and a polished band graduates slightly towards the back where a light touchmark is found inside the shank. A beautiful and feminine design, it would look perfect worn on special occasions, or it would make a spectacular gemstone engagement ring!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 4.75, but could be easily. The sapphire and diamond centerpiece measures a little more than 5/8" tall and slightly more than 1/2" wide and rests 1/4" above the finger when worn. The band measures 2mm wide in the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting and the sapphire and diamond stones are intact and securely set.
