Edwardian Sterling/Gilt Double Snake Conversion Pendant Necklace
A fabulous conversion pendant necklace from the Edwardian (ca1910s) era! Originally a brooch, this bold piece is comprised of a 3-dimensional pendant crafted in sterling silver with gilded yellow gold accents, attached to modern silver chain. The slithering centerpiece is portrayed by two-tone twin snakes which coil together in a lovely figure-8 pattern, their tails wrapped around the other's body. A sterling chain attaches on either side of the pendant, fastening in the back at a lobster clasp marked with a “925" purity mark. It’s a lovely necklace and would be a wonderful addition to any serpent lover's collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 16" in total length. The snake pendant measures approximately 3/4" tall, 1 3/8" wide, and slightly more than 1/4" deep.
Condition: The necklace is in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver and gilded setting. The chain and its lobster clasp are secure and in good working condition.
