Estate 14kt Grey Glass Tassie Pendant
A Tassie is a paste or glass copy of a cameo or intaglio. Scottish gem engraver James Tassie created replicas of ancient agates and gemstones and together with Dr. Henry Quin of Dublin, they came up with an opaque glass that could replicate various colors and patterns. Tassies were created using a molding process rather than carving.
This unusual Estate glass tassie is a gorgeous nod to the Victorian era! The beautiful pendant is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and features a glass plaque at the center of a wide bezel frame. The tassie has a soft greenish grey color and is oval in shape, displaying the carved image of a hunter drawing his arrow, his dog at his side. The bearded and unclothed man is aiming his arrow at two birds in the distance, while a single bird, his successful hunt, lies at his feet. The pendant has an open back which allows for the light to beautifully shine through, and the piece hangs from a substantial gold bail. The stunning pendant would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1" with the bail and measures a little less than 3/4" wide and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the tassie or to the gold setting.
