Renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen was born in 1866. His training in metalsmithing and his education in Fine Arts enabled him to develop a successful career based in beautiful jewelry and silver design. His signature Art Nouveau style grew increasingly popular and Jensen became a world-renowned artist. Although Jensen died in 1935, his pieces are still being created today using the same craftsmanship as when he was alive.
These earrings are a wonderful example of 1980s Georg Jensen jewelry! Crafted in sterling silver, these earrings feature a hoop design with a whimsical twisted cleft heart that dangles from a bail, adding lovely motion to the otherwise simple style. If desired, the hearts can be removed for the pair to be worn as simple hoop earrings, making them a versatile find! The backside of each heart and the end of each hoop reads "GEORG JENSEN" in an oval along with "925 S". The friction earring backs are marked with "925" and an overlapping "GJ". These sweet earrings would be a perfect addition to any Georg Jensen collection!
Measurements: The earrings measure approximately 1 3/16" from the top of the hoop to the bottom of the dangling heart. The hoop measures about 5/8 in diameter. The heart measures 9/16" tall and wide.
Condition: The earrings are overall in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver. The posts and friction backs are secure and in good working condition.
