Renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen was born in 1866. His training in metalsmithing and his education in the Fine Arts enabled him to develop a successful career based in beautiful jewelry and silver design. His signature Art Nouveau style grew increasingly popular, and Jensen became a world renowned artist. Although Jensen died in 1935, his pieces are still being created today using the same craftsmanship as when he was alive.
This exceptional vintage ring by Georg Jensen is a wonderful example of his legendary work! Known as the "melon" ring, the domed front features three melon-shaped wedges that display a smoothly polished surface. This sterling silver piece is comprised a curved centerpieces that is attached to the band on either side by pairs of connector loops. The loops on the sides provide wonderful movement to the piece, creating a unique design element for a ring! The band at the back is slightly graduated at the center and reveals two deep grooves across the surface. Stamped underneath the centerpiece is the authentic "Georg Jensen" signature hallmark, a "925" purity mark, and the serial number "427." This fabulous piece would make a unique and wonderful addition to any Georg Jensen collection!
