Georgian 14kt Foil-Back Garnet Link Necklace 14"
An absolutely stunning garnet necklace from the Georgian (ca1750) era! Crafted in 14kt rose gold, this beautiful piece is comprised of 34 garnet links that connect together to form a gorgeous collar necklace. The oval-shaped stones graduate slightly in size and rest in a beautiful claw collet setting, a wonderful reflection of the Georgian era. The foil-backed garnets exhibit luscious, rich red hues, and are beautifully faceted, catching the light with every turn. Delicate connector loops attach each link together, allowing the necklace to form a flexible design that drapes comfortably along the neckline. Hidden seamlessly within the final link is a push clasp and safety chain featuring a spring ring clasp at the end for added security. Based on the presence of a center bail and two hook bails at the side, the necklace was most likely originally part of a suite which would have included earrings and a pendant that could have been attached, creating a more extravagant look. We have left the bail and hidden hooks in their original place, however, we could easily remove them if desired. A stunning statement piece, this necklace would look spectacular worn day or night!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 14" long. The largest of the garnet links measures about 1/2" wide, 1/4" tall and 1/8" thick. The smallest of the garnet links measures about 3/8" wide, 1/4" tall and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the rose gold setting. All of the garnets are intact and securely set. The push clasp and safety chain are secure and in good working order.
