Georgian Rare 15kt Gold Carved Agate Rococo Vinaigrette Charm/Pendant

SKU: 44133

An incredible museum-worthy piece from the Georgian (ca1760s) era! This rare Georgian Rococo vinaigrette displays a gorgeous contrast between the blooming 15kt yellow gold and the banded agate's wonderful variation of soft black hues interspersed with white and grey coloring. A matching twisted wire frame lines the top of the basket as well as its base, complementing the golden foliate motif found along the body and lid of the pendant. The vinaigrette basket lid, hand-engraved underneath with "55533 AKH" lifts to reveal a hinged, pierced cover under which space to hold the wearer's choice perfume can be found. A twisted wire handle attached at either side forms a small loop at the top, ready to attach the basket-shaped vinaigrette to a favorite chain. This elegant work of art would make a phenomenal addition to any Georgian collection.

Measurements: The vinaigrette pendant hangs approximately 1 1/4" long (with the handle) and nearly 3/4" when the handle is lowered. The piece measures slightly less than 7/8" at the widest point and 3/4" deep.

Condition: The vinaigrette is in overall excellent condition for its age. There is a pin-sized dent below the lid lip, which is not visible when worn. The agate is intact and free of chips and scratches. The vinaigrette lifts open without any problem and stays securely closed. The hinged lid and the hinged pierced cover are both in good working condition. The wire handle is also in good working order.
