Georgian Sterling Ceylon Sapphire + Rose Cut Diamond Ring 8.00ct center
A spectacular and unusual sapphire and diamond ring from the Georgian (ca1830) era! This incredible sterling silver piece adorns a mesmerizing 8.00ct Cushion Cut Ceylon blue sapphire at the center of an ornate setting. The claw set stone exhibits a light cornflower blue color with no indications of heat treatment, and the open back setting allows light to pass through, showcasing the stunning hue. The sapphire is set within an exceptional wirework mounting encrusted with sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds. The stones weigh approximately 0.90ctw combined and display H-I range color and VS2-SI1 range clarity. The filigree design features swirled cutouts and delicate beadwork that decorate the shoulders and sides of the ring and finishing the design is a smoothly polished band that graduates slightly towards the back. The ring was appraised in November 2019 by an independent and accredited GIA-certified gemologist and has a stated retail replacement value of $15,500.00. The ring makes an exceptional statement piece when worn, and would be fantastic as a unique gemstone engagement ring or could mark a special occasion!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6.5 but could be resized if desired. The ring rests approximately 1/4" above the finger when worn. The graduated band measures 3.5mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. The sapphire and all of the diamonds are intact and securely set. Due to the hand cut nature of old Rose Cut diamonds, the shape of the stones do not have perfect symmetry. This reflects the age and genuine appearance of antique diamonds.
