J.E. CALDWELL Art Deco Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring 1.19ct
A spectacular Art Deco (ca1920) era diamond engagement ring by J.E. Caldwell & Co.! This beautiful ring holds a gorgeous old European Cut diamond at the center of a filigree platinum mounting. The center diamond weighs 1.19ct and has J color and VS2 clarity. It is micro prong set within a square shaped setting, and surrounded by a fine octagonal airline, creating a very geometric Art Deco design. Six single cut accent diamonds decorate the the shoulders of the ring, surrounded by delicate milgrain detail and shapely cutouts. These diamonds weigh approximately .12ctw and have H-I range color and SI range clarity. A detailed filigree design is also visible from the side of the setting. The inside of the shank is stamped with a J.E. Caldwell & Co. serial number; the original maker's mark is no longer visible due to previous re-sizing. The ring was appraised by an independent and accredited GIA-certified gemologist in January 2016 and has a stated retail replacement value of $11,200.00. It comes in its original red and black velvet box that is stamped "J.E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia - Wilmington - Haverford" inside. An exquisite Art Deco piece, it has a stunning design and would make an incredible engagement ring!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6.75, but could be re-sized up or down.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting, and all of the diamonds are intact and securely set. The box shows some normal signs of surface wear that are commensurate with age.
