Retro French 18kt Miniature Parisian Opera Ticket Kiosk Charm Pendant
A wonderful and sentimental French-made late Retro (ca1950s) charm! This creative piece is crafted in 18kt yellow gold and forms the shape of a miniature Parisian opera ticket kiosk, specifically Folies Bergère. Originally named Folies Trévise, the opera house opened in 1869 and, to this day, is a mainstay in Parisian entertainment and tourism! The 3-dimensional design has a textured roof and is decorated in colorful enameling. Signage reading "FOLIES BERGERE" encircles the kiosk, the background enameled in royal blue. A black and red poster reading "OPERA" adorns one side of the window above a white "ABC" bordered by light blue. The opposite side reads "MOULIN ROUGE" with a yellow enamel background above "PARIS" and faded red enamel. The ticket kiosk stands on a square, beveled base and a loop at the top is attached to a simple 14kt oval bail. The loop at the top has several French hallmarks including an eagle's head which represents 18kt gold purity. This whimsical piece makes a colorful statement when worn, and would look perfect worn on a gold chain or added to a charm bracelet or necklace. A special keepsake piece, it would make a wonderful gift for any Francophile, opera, or Moulin Rouge enthusiast!
Measurements: The charm hangs approximately 1 1/8" long, including the bail at the top. It measures a little more than 5/16" at its widest point.
Condition: The charm remains in overall great vintage condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold setting and the bail is intact and in good working order. The enameled detail displays wear commensurate with age, but this does not detract from the overall beauty of the piece.
