A gorgeous snake pin/pendant from the Late Victorian (ca1894) era! This stunning piece is crafted in 18kt yellow gold topped in sterling silver and forms the shape of a diamond encrusted snake. The body of the snake coils and loops to form a wonderful clover-like design, ending with the head resting at the center and its tail tucked under its neck. Sparkling old Rose cut diamonds line the front of the entire surface, each one catching the light brilliantly with every turn. Adorning the top of the head is a single sparkling old Mine cut diamond, resting above two delicate ruby cabochon eyes. The underside of the piece reveals a smoothly polished yellow gold setting, and stamped near a very faint and indecipherable engraving is the year "1894." The convertible design has a swinging bail at the top and a removable screw-on pin back (including the bar pin and secure clasp), allowing the piece to hang from a lovely chain or be fastened to a favorite garment. A stunning and very artistic piece, it's perfect for any snake lover and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!

Measurements: The piece measures approximately 7/8" wide, 3/4" tall, and about 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver topped gold setting or to any of the diamonds, all of which are intact and securely set. The swinging bail and removable bar pin are secure and in good working condition.
