An exquisite rock crystal necklace from the late Victorian (ca1900) era! This French-made piece is crafted in .800 silver topped in 18kt yellow gold to form an elegant Riviera style necklace. The piece is formed by a row of 43 slightly graduated rock crystal stones, each one resting in a lovely 8-prong setting. The gorgeous old Mine Cushion cut stones are held in an open back setting, allowing the light to pass through and catch the facets brilliantly with every turn, beautifully mimicking the look of real diamonds. The largest crystal adorns the top of the push clasp at the back, which is stamped with various French hallmarks, including the boar and eagles head (indicating its gold and silver purity) and a bigorne mark, also known as a countermark that was used to discourage French hallmarking fraud. This stunning necklace looks incredible from any angle, and rests beautifully along the neckline. When worn, the piece makes a fabulous statement and the necklace would be mesmerizing day or night!

Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 15" long. The rock crystal stone at the center measures about 8mm in diameter and the smallest measures about 6mm in diameter. The largest stone atop the clasp measures about 9mm in diameter.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is great. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver and yellow gold setting and the push clasp is secure and in good working condition. The stones are intact and securely set, however, there are some minor surface abrasions that commesurate with its age and not visible to the naked eye.
