Late Victorian French Silver/18kt Mixed Metals "Souvenir" Ring

SKU: 43221

$395

A beautiful mixed metals ring from the late Victorian (ca1900) era! This lovely .800 silver ring features a sentimental 18kt rose gold plaque across the front surface to create a wonderful mixed metals design. The ornately shaped plaque rests on a diagonal and is hand engraved with the French word "SOUVENIR" (which translates to "remember" or "memory") and finished with a soft etched border. The plaque is set atop a feminine swirled cutout design at the center of the band, which is detailed with delicate beaded accents in various sizes. The smoothly polished band wraps around the back where it is touchmarked with a French boar head (indicating it's .800 silver purity) and inside of the shank is faded hallmark that shows signs of a French weevil, indicating an imported item of 18kt gold and silver. Whether worn alone or paired with other rings, this gorgeous piece makes a beautiful statement that is perfect for everyday wear!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6.75 but could easily be resized. The centerpiece measures slightly more than 1/4" tall, and rests about 1/8" above the finger when worn. The band measures 1.5mm at the back.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver and gold setting, or to the ornate design.
