Late Victorian Large 14kt Diamond Heart Locket 0.20ctw

SKU: 43181

A beautiful heart locket from the late Victorian (1900s) era! This wonderful piece, which is substantial is size, is crafted in rich 14kt yellow gold and forms the shape of a romantic heart. Set at the center is a single old Mine Cut diamond, which rests within a hand-carved starbust and has a total approximate weight of 0.20ctw. The front and back of the locket display a smoothly polished surface and a large set of monogrammed initials is engraved on the back in flowing fancy script. The locket is hinged and opens at the side to reveal two glass covered spaces for holding special photographs. The hand etched names "Christy" and "Lewis" are engraved on either side, next to the inserts, and an interior stamp reads "14K" alongside an arrow-shaped maker's mark.  At the top of the heart is a large bail, allowing the piece to be easily hung and worn from your favorite chain. The lovely design is both simple and sentimental and the piece would be a wonderful gift for someone special.

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 7/8" long, including the bail, measures 1 1/2" wide, and is a little less than 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold, and the diamond is intact. The locket opens and closes easily and securely, and the bail and locket faces are in good condition.
