A feminine cherub bangle bracelet from the late Victorian (ca1887-1937) era! Crafted in .833 purity silver, this lovely Portuguese-made piece displays an elegant enameled image that graces the entire outer surface. The scene is similar on both sides of the bangle, and portrays a beautiful young woman and toddler child relaxing outside amongst lovely flowers and grasses. Angelic winged cherubs play all around them, each one adorned with a flowing fabric dyed in lovely complimentary colors. The detailed image is decorated with gorgeous hand-painted enamel in pastel shades of pinks, blues, yellows, greens, and browns, adding wonderful color to the design. A delicate silver border is visible on either side of the image, and the bangle fastens with a hinge and push clasp on either side, which are decorated with a matching etched design. Stamped inside the shank and along the tongue of the clasp are several hallmarks, including a boar's head mark with "II" in Roman numerals, dating this piece to Lisbon between 1887-1937 and a possible maker's mark of a massed ship stamped with the letter "J." There are a few additional markings on the inside of the bangle, however their origin is unknown. A beautiful and unusual bracelet, it would look gorgeous worn alone or stacked with other complimentary bangles!

Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and approximately 1 7/8" tall and would likely fit a small to average sized wrist. The surface measures approximately 1/2" wide, and is a little more than 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the .833 silver setting. The enamel is free of chips, however there are some scratches to the surface which is not noticeable when worn and does not detract from the overall beauty of the image. The hinge and clasp fasten securely and are in good working condition.
