Retro Swedish Cultured Pearl Bead Necklace with 18kt Diamond Clasp 39.5"
A classically beautiful pearl necklace from the Retro (ca1940) era! This delicate and feminine piece is of Swedish origin and features a single strand of 186 cultured pearls, which have a soft creamy white color and wonderful luster. The pearls vary slightly in shape and are graduated with the largest pearls in the center and the smallest at the ends. Each pearl is hand strung and knotted on white thread and the necklace fastens at a gorgeous 18kt white gold clasp, which has two 0.06ct old Mine cut diamonds set within the surface, accented by 14 smaller diamond stones. The underside of the clasp is stamped with several Swedish hallmarks including the makers mark "GD&Co," the letter "M," which represents that it was assayed in Hassleholm, the "cat's paw triple crown" mark, the Swedish National Control and Assay Office mark, "18K," and the date hallmark "O8" which corresponds to circa 1940. Accompanying the necklace is a Pearl Identification Report (#2215046923) issued in July 2020 by GIA (Gemological Institute of America), confirming that the cultured pearls were grown in the akoya pearl oyster and are of a saltwater environment. Perfect for daily wear or special occasions, this feminine and elegant necklace would make a versatile addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures 39.5" long. The largest pearl measures approximately 6.76mm, and the smallest measures 2.75mm.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the pearls, which are all intact and securely strung. The catch is secure and in good working condition, and all of the diamonds are intact.
