SCHIAPARELLI Vintage Large Sterling + Multi-Crystal Link Bracelet
The world renowned fashion designer, Elsa Schiaparelli was born in Rome in 1890, and was regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars, along with her greatest rival, Coco Chanel. In 1927, she established an important couture house in Paris where she started with knitwear that were heavily influenced by Surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau. By 1935, she was a leader in haute couture and quickly expanded into jewelry, perfume, cosmetics, lingerie, and swimsuits. Her designs were noted for combining eccentricity with simplicity and a trim neatness with flamboyant color. Schiaparelli's distinctive costume jewelry displayed a wide range of novelty designs that tended to be more abstract or floral-themed. Although her design house closed down in 1954, it was reestablished in 2012 among the haute couture fashion row at the Hôtel de Fontpertuis, 21 place Vendôme in Paris in the very place where Elsa left it. Her eccentric fashion legacy continues today, and her iconic designs are still ever popular and fashionable in the modern era.
