Victorian 14kt/18kt Ruby + Pearl Snake Choker Necklace 13.5"

SKU: 45366

A beautiful choker necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 18kt yellow gold with white gold accents, a serpent's head is set with two ruby cabochon eyes and four ruby scales. The rubies exhibit a lovely pink hue, and the snake's head is embellished with swirling leaves, representing scaly texture. Three silver-topped leaves accent the snake, and a lustrous white natural pearl dangles from its open mouth. Completing the spectacular design is a 14kt articulate snake chain, which graduates in thickness as it nears the middle. A push clasp hides within the side of the snake's head to secure the necklace. This gorgeous necklace is a wonderful example of Victorian-era jewelry and would be a very special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 13.5" in length. The snake's head is about 1" long and measures slightly more than 3/8" at its widest point.

Condition: The necklace is in very good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the snake's head. There is evidence of two repairs to the chain, but they are discrete and secure. The rubies and pearl are all intact and securely set.
