An absolutely beautiful double sided locket from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This wonderful piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and forms the shape of a round disc. The smooth surface displays a lovely matte finish, and both sides are adorned with a set of relatively large initials written in an incredibly elegant script. One side features the initials "MMS," while other the side possibly displays the initials "JACM" or "ACM" and both scripts end with lovely swirled ribbons, adding a wonderful feminine touch. The locket is hinged on the side and opens to reveal a clear celluloid covered space to hold a special photograph or memento, if desired. Both interior sides are stamped with the number "62," and the locket hangs from a simple gold bail, perfect for hanging from a complimentary chain. It's a simple yet elegant piece that would make a wonderful keepsake addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 5/8" long (including the bail at the top), and measures about 1 1/4" in diameter and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The locket is in an overall good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold setting except for two small indents on the surface of one side. Due to the location, they are hidden within the ornate design of the letters and hardly noticeable. The hinged locket and bail are in good working condition.
