Victorian 14kt Gold Nugget + Carved Horn Crescent Moon Necklace 18"
A fabulous and unusual gold nugget and carved horn crescent moon necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, the front of the crescent is adorned with delicate gold nuggets that would have most likely been a collectable souvenir from the California or Alaska gold rush. Due to their natural formation, each nugget is uniquely shaped and varies slightly in size, with a natural textured surface. Bezel set in the center of the pendant is a fabulous hand carved horn crescent, displaying gorgeous tan and rich brown stripes that perfectly compliment the vibrant gold setting. Attached to the top of the pendant is a delicate yellow gold interlocking chain that fastens in the back with a spring ring clasp stamped with a "585" gold purity mark. The necklace rests beautifully along the neckline, and stamped on the back of the pendant is "NATIVE GOLD" and "NUGGETS." It is a unique and beautiful piece with a fantastic history, and would look lovely worn day or night!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18" in total length. The pendant measures about 1 1/2" wide and tall and is about 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to gold setting, or to the gold nuggets. The spring ring clasp is secure and in good working order.
