Victorian 14kt Handmade Chain with Garnet Cabochon Clasp in Box 27.5"
A very unusual gold chain from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This exceptional handmade necklace is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and comprised of a multitude of interlocking rings that come together to form a unique pattern. Textured rings form alternating patterns, each linked together and accented by smaller, smooth gold loops. The chain secures with an elaborately decorated barrel clasp which features five garnet cabochons surrounded by lovely Etruscan wirework. The tongue of the clasp is marked "585" twice. A beautifully made Victorian piece, this unique antique treasure would make a special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures approximately 27.5" long, including the clasp. The chain itself measures 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no noticeable damage to the gold links or clasp and all of the garnets are intact. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. The fitted box remains in excellent antique condition.
