Victorian 14kt Inlaid Gold Quartz Watch Chain Necklace 15"
Gold-in-quartz was formed while the earth was still in its molten state. During the cooling and solidification process, veins of gold became trapped with the crystals of quartz in the mine. This created a very dramatic contrast between the white quartz and the yellow of the gold. Jewelry made from gold quartz became quite a fashion statement of the 1880's.
A stunning gold quartz watch chain necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 14kt rose gold, this gorgeous piece is comprised of rectangular-shaped links, which are inlaid with two plaques of gold quartz set on either side. A smoothly polished border frames each stone, and lovely etching graces each connector ring that attach the links together. The gold quartz is stunning throughout the necklace, displaying a range of colors that include milky white, soft grey, and beige, with marbled flecks of yellow gold. Finishing the design is a vibrant gold spring ring clasp (stamped "14K") hanging near the last link, perfect for adding a favorite fob or pendant, if desired. The necklace fastens with a spring ring clasp in the back, which would also allow for accessories to be added if desired, although the piece looks stunning worn on its own. This wonderfully versatile necklace will make a fabulous statement worn day or night!
Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures 15" long. The inside of both spring ring clasps measure about 1/4" in diameter. Each gold quartz link measures 1 5/8" long, a little less than 1/4" tall, and about 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the rose or yellow gold settings. All of the inlaid gold quartz is intact and securely set. The spring ring clasps are secure and in good working order.
