Victorian 14kt Onyx + Enameled Teardrop Dangle Earrings
A stunning pair of enameled onyx earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, these fabulous earrings feature a trio of teardrop shaped onyx links hanging from a complimentary topper. The graduated links are topped with a scalloped gold cap which adorns rich black enameling, each hanging from an open central link. The oval-shaped ring is outlined in black enameling framed with fine milgrain work and delicate gold beads, while a single onyx bead dangles freely at the center. The bold design is finished with a rectangular-shaped onyx topper which is adorned with similar enameling, beadwork, and gold accents that line the top and center. The contrast between the polished black onyx and vibrant gold is visually stunning, and the earrings hang from simple gold wires at the top, allowing them to swing with lovely movement. Lightweight for comfortable wear, these marvelous earrings frame the face beautifully and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 3/4" long (including the wire at the top), is 5/8" wide, and about 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The onyx stones are intact and securely set, however one of rectangular onyx links has a very tiny chip to one corner, which is not noticeable when worn. There is minimal wear to the enamel work, especially given the age of the piece, and does not distract from the overall beauty of the earrings.
