Victorian 14kt Rose Cut Diamond Enamel Heart Locket
A beautiful and unusual diamond heart locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 14kt yellow gold, this lovely piece has a decorative design comprised of Rose Cut diamonds and rich black enamel. The heart-shaped pendant has an open framework, and each sparkling Rose Cut diamond is individually prong set within a raised buttercup setting. The largest diamond is suspended in the center, surrounded by a sunburst of black enameled rays that fan out from all sides, extending in between each diamond forming the border. The edges of the piece have a gold scalloped pattern, and the back of the piece reveals a removable glass frame, allowing a special photograph to be stored inside. At the top of the piece is a complimentary gold bail with a single Rose Cut diamond set within the topper. A very strong Victorian piece, it has a unique and romantic appearance, and would look perfect paired with a gold chain!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 3/4" long, is 1 1/8" wide, and approximately 5/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, enamel detail, or to any of the diamonds, all of which are intact. The glass frame is intact and free of chips.
