Victorian 14kt/Sterling Ruby + Diamond Rooster Conversion Pendant Necklace
A sweet rooster pendant necklace from the Victorian (ca1900s) era! Originally a stick pin and possibly created in celebration of the 1897 or 1909 Chinese Zodiac Year of the Rooster, this charming rooster has since been converted to a pendant and is crafted in 14kt yellow gold topped in sterling silver. The head and feet of the bird display lovely gold as the sterling body and feathers are encrusted in a mix of old Rose Cut and Mine Cut diamonds, the silver displaying detailed feathering. The rooster's eye is portrayed by a small red ruby, a fine detail that enhances the delicate design, and the pendant attaches at either side to a modern twhite gold chain. A wonderful update to a darling piece, this necklace would be a fantastic addition to any menagerie!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18.5" long. The rooster pendant measures 1/2" tall, 1/2" wide, and 1/8" in depth.
Condition: The pendant necklace is in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and sterling setting and the ruby and all of the diamonds are intact. The chain and its spring-ring are in secure and in good working condition.
