Victorian 15kt Coral, Diamond + Enameled Fly Earrings
A gorgeous and very unique pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unusual design is crafted in 15kt rose gold with sterling silver accents and adorns a coral cabochon link dangling from a diamond surmount. Resting atop each oval-shaped cabochon is a delicate 3-dimensional fly, with raised wings lined with sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds. Vibrant orange enameling embellishes the two beady eyes and back, while bright green enamel decorates the body, with 4 delicate legs extending outward to finish the design. The rich, orange coral is bezel-set and hangs from a sterling silver topped surmount that holds a sparkling old Mine Cushion Cut diamond. Finishing the mixed metals design is a simple yellow gold wire at the top, allowing the stunning earrings to dangle with lovely movement and frame the face beautifully. These artistic earrings have a wonderful Victorian look and would make a unique addition to any antique collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs slightly less than 1" long (including the wires at the top), and measures a little more than 1/4" wide, and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and sterling silver setting. The coral and diamonds are intact and securely set. The enamel does not display any apparent cracks or chips, however on one fly, one of the eyes is missing some of the enamel. Due to the tiny size of the eye, the missing enamel is not noticeable when worn. The earring wires are secure and in good working order.
