Victorian 15kt Faceted Coral Teardrop Day + Night Earrings
An absolutely incredible and unique pair of faceted coral earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These fantastic earrings are crafted in 15kt rose and yellow gold and can be transformed from simple "day" earrings to a more dramatic and longer "night" earring. The domed "day" topper adorns a stunning faceted coral cabochon which rests in a scalloped bezel setting at the center of a wide border. Dangling from the base is the two-part "night" link featuring a teardrop shaped coral stone hanging from an ornate die struck floral-shaped link at the center. A feminine raised repousse design decorates the central link, which is crafted in yellow gold, adding a subtle two-tone appeal. The teardrop shaped coral stone is faceted and held in a smoothly polished cap, accented with a delicate elongated bead detail at the tip. The smoothly polished gold pairs perfectly against the vibrant natural deep reddish orange hue of the coral with facets that reflect the light beautifully with every turn. Attached at the top of each topper is a European back earring wire, which fastens in the front, allowing the earrings to dangle with lovely movement. Whether the links are worn together as "night" earrings, or separated as "day" earrings, they frame the face beautifully and would be a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each "night" earring hangs approximately 3 5/8" long (including the wire at the top), measures about 1 1/8" wide, and is 1/2" thick. Each "day" earring hangs approximately 1 1/4" long, 3/4" wide, and is 1/2" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting except for a tiny hole and very minor scratches to the cap on one earring, however due to the size and location, they are not noticeable when worn. The European wires are secure and in good working condition
