Victorian 15kt Gold & Coral Festoon Collar Necklace
An absolutely stunning gold and coral necklace from the Victorian (1880) era! This gorgeous piece is comprised of several coral links, strung together on complimentary colored string. Hanging from the piece are 3 movable, fence-link sections, with the largest resting in the center. The two outer sections begin with a long, curved coral link with a 15kt gold ring at each end. Hanging from this are several rectangular coral links that are connected to each other in triangular, pavement style. Dangling from each is an urn shaped coral bead which hangs in a festoon style. The largest, center section carries the same design, but has 3 carved urn beads dangling from the piece. A 15kt gold frame supports the back of each pendant, and the necklace comes together at a hidden clasp at the back of the piece. The coral, which is natural, has a vibrant yet soft orange color that is simply marvelous. It has a dramatic design that rests perfectly on ones neck. It would make a gorgeous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18" in length. The center section measures slightly less than 3” long, 2 1/2" wide, and 1/8” thick. Each side pendant measures 2 3/8” long, 1 3/4" wide, and 1/8” thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is a small amount of damage to the coral on the left side section that has previously been repaired and is hardly noticeable when worn. Besides normal surface wear, there is no other damage to the coral beads or to the gold frame. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
