Victorian 18kt Garnet Cabochon & Black Enamel Ring
A spectacular garnet mourning ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This fabulous ring is made of 18kt yellow gold and holds a beautiful garnet cabochon in the center. The garnet is bezel set and accented with an absolutely exceptional black enamel design which covers the entire surface of the mounting. The inside of the ring is stamped with several English hallmarks, including "TA", the number "18", a crown, an anchor, and the letter "F". There is also an engraved inscription which appears to read "James Alan Harrison 24th Nov. 1855, 49 yrs". The ring displays exceptional artistry and has a very striking look that would suit either a woman or a man!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 7.25. Because of the delicate enameled design as well as the interior inscription, we would recommend not having this ring sized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold mounting or to the black enamel and the garnet cabochon is intact.
