An incredible pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Each of these spectacular earrings is crafted in 18kt yellow gold and has a beautiful dangling design. A floral motif comprises the center, with elegant petals that fan out towards the edges. Sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds adorn the surface, accenting the petals and the centers of both flowers. All of the stones are closed back and raised above the surface, and the center diamond is surrounded by a lovely wirework border. Each earring hangs from a gold wire attached to a decorative diamond surmount, giving wonderful movement to the design. When worn, the earrings have a magnificent and rich appearance that would appeal to any Victorian jewelry collector!
Measurements: Each earring hangs 2 1/8" long, including the wire toppers. The oval links at the base measure about 3/4" wide, 7/8" tall, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or wire surmounts, which are secure. A natural patina on the surface of the piece provides additional dimension, which is normal for Victorian era jewelry and adds to its beauty and character. Due to the closed back setting, we would recommend only minimal polishing of the patina; they should not be submerged in liquid.
