Victorian 18kt Turquoise, Pearl, Ruby + Diamond Enameled Hand Bracelet
An absolutely breathtaking bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, this gorgeous piece displays a 3-dimensional motif of a hand holding an elongated floral stem. The detailed, feminine hand is decorated with an intricate pattern of royal blue enameling, contrasting beautifully with the rich gold of her ornate sleeve. She wears her own bracelet, adorned with a lustrous white pearl encircled by old Rose Cut diamonds, the band encrusted with lush pink rubies. The graceful hand holds a single stem of flowers decorated with vibrant robin's egg blue and blue-green turquoise stones and further adorned with pink rubies in bezel settings. We believe the flowers could possibly be Belladonna delphinium (goodwill, as well as a remembrance for loved ones who have passed), blue hyacinth (constancy), or blue perennial salvia ("I think of you"), all of which carry special symbolism. The bracelet's band has a finely engraved foliate pattern that seamlessly blends into her sleeve, creating a lovely continuous design. The bracelet fastens with a hidden push clasp and is further secured by a delicate twisting safety chain. This spectacular piece would be a wonderful addition to any Victorian jewelry collection.
Measurements: The inner diameter of the bracelet, where the wrist would rest, measures approximately 2 1/4" wide and 2" tall, fitting an average-sized wrist. The hand motif measures 11/16" wide and nearly 1 1/4" long. The deepest part of the piece, the pearl, diamond, and ruby bracelet, measures slightly more than 1/2" deep. The tapered underside of the bracelet measures less than 3/16" in diameter at its smallest.
Condition: The bracelet is in overall very good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no significant damage to the gold setting. There is a light amount of wear to the royal blue enamel pattern, commensurate with age. All of the diamonds, rubies, and the pearl are free of chips and scratches.
