Victorian 14kt Art Glass Diamond "Man in the Moon" Pendant
A wonderful "Man in the Moon" pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This whimsical piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and features an alluring carved art glass center. The design portrays a recognizable "Man in the Moon" face, which has intricately carved facial features for a realistic 3-dimensional look. The translucent art glass face rests in a closed back setting and hangs from a sparkling diamond bail at the top. The art glass has a soft iridescent color, emitting a mesmerizing pale blue-green color that flashes when turned in the light, and almost seems to glow from within. The quality of the color is difficult to capture in a photograph, but is quite lovely in person. This very unique piece would look perfect on a gold chain and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant and bail hangs 3/4" long, is 1/2" at the widest point and has a depth of approximately 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the carved art glass and all of the diamonds are intact.
