Victorian Austria-Hungarian Silver + Black Enameled Bangle Bracelet

SKU: 43154

$995
A bold and elegant enameled bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in .800 purity silver, this lovely Austria-Hungarian made piece displays an ornate design in between rich black enamel that wraps around the entire surface. The pattern graces the center of the bangle and features a gorgeous, raised repousse design with diagonally flowing leaves surrounding an ornate circular motif. Delicate silver flowers rest in between providing a lovely feminine touch. Rich matte black enameling decorates the space and creates a fantastic, eye-catching color contrast. Finishing the design is a unique repousse scene at the center of one side depicting a woman giving a floral bouquet to a man, who rests on a chair with one hand on a cane. The delicate scene features wonderful details and adds even more depth to the overall design. The hinged bangle fastens with a push clasp on the side and safety chain for extra security. Stamped on the inside of the bracelet and along the tongue of the clasp are several hallmarks, including a "5" "800" purity mark, "AV" maker's mark, and a dog head mark with the number 3 and a date letter "A," dating this piece to Vienna between 1872-1922. A beautiful and unusual bracelet, it would stack nicely with other complimentary bangles or make a fabulous statement when worn!

Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 3/8" wide and 2" tall and would likely fit an average to medium sized wrist. The surface measures approximately 1/2" wide, and is slightly less than 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is good. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the .800 silver setting. The hinge, clasp, and safety chain are intact and in good working condition.
