Victorian Austro-Hungarian Gilded Silver Watch Chain Necklace 33"
A fantastic chain necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era. Crafted in .750 silver, this Austro-Hungarian piece is relatively substantial in length and displays a simple but beautiful design. A trio of round wirework links interlock together to form the chain, with each one decorated on both sides with a delicate beaded accent. The necklace fastens with a spring ring clasp, which could be used to hang a complimentary locket or pendant, if desired, however, thanks to its generous length, the necklace can easily slip on and off overhead allowing it to be worn long or doubled up for a layered look. There are a few hallmarks stamped on the clasp, and on a nearby connector loop is the Austro-Hungarian hallmark of a lion head, along with a "4" to indicate it's silver purity, and a city letter of either a "C" or a "G" indicating it was assayed in Prague or Graz, respectively. A beautifully made piece with endless versatility, it is a perfect everyday accessory that blends seamlessly into modern day fashion!
Measurements: The chain measures approximately 33" long, and is slightly more than 1/8" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded silver links and the spring clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
