Victorian Austro-Hungarian Sterling/14kt Diamond Drop Earrings 1.50ctw
An exquisite pair of Austro-Hungarian diamond earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in sterling silver atop 14kt yellow gold, these incredible earrings each adorn 3 old Mine Cut diamonds hanging below a clasped wire. The sparkling trio graduates slightly in size, and collectively weigh approximately 0.75ctw per ear, (1.50ctw combined) sparkling beautifully in the light with every turn. The stones are each set in a sterling silver bezel, which hangs from a yellow gold lever-back wire, creating a wonderful mixed metals appeal. Each wire is stamped with an Austrian hallmark of a dog head with an "A" (indicating that it was assayed in Vienna) and a "4" (indicating the gold purity). When worn, the earrings dangle with lovely movement, delivering a gorgeous sparkle. Classically beautiful, they would look incredible worn every day or on special occasions!
Measurements: Each diamond earring hangs approximately 1" in total length, measures 1/4" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling-topped gold setting. The clasped earring wires fasten securely and are in good working condition. All of the diamonds are intact and securely set.
