Victorian Carved Moonstone & Diamond Cherub Necklace
A wonderful cherub necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This lovely piece is comprised of a winged cherub pendant which hangs from a fine gold chain. The pendant features a cherub's face at the center that has been beautifully hand carved from moonstone. At either side of the cherub's face is a pair of outstretched silver topped angelic wings, which are encrusted with glittering old Rose Cut diamonds. The piece, which was most likely originally a pin, is made of 15kt rose gold and hangs from a modern, gold chain. The chain fastens together with a simple lobster clasp at the back. A delicate piece with a very unique and special look, it would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures 18 3/4" long. The cherub pendant is nearly 1 1/2" wide, 1/2" tall, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and silver setting or to the carved moonstone and the diamond stones are all intact. The chain hangs securely and the clasp is in good working condition.
