Victorian Carved Tortoise Shell Hinged Bangle Bracelet
Now a banned material, antique tortoise shell jewelry has become very collectible. A lovely carved tortoise shell bangle from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wide bracelet is crafted out of two curved tortoise shell links that come together at a hinge on one side, and a simple silver hidden push clasp on the other, creating a seamless design. The smoothly polished material displays rich, deep brown color with light amber and caramel hues that are visible throughout. Finishing the design is a safety chain that ends in a spring ring clasp, stamped with a "STERLING" purity mark. A sleek and feminine design, it would stack nicely with other complimentary bangles. This bold Victorian bracelet blends seamlessly into modern day fashion, and is a perfect everyday piece!
Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures about 2" wide and 1 3/4" tall, and would fit nicely on a small to medium sized wrist. The surface measures approximately 1" wide, and is 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the tortoise shell or to the sterling silver settings. The hinge, push clasp, safety chain, and spring ring clasp fasten securely and are in good working condition.
