Victorian Continental Silver Wide Book Chain
A fabulous Continental silver book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is comprised of alternating oval and cutout square shaped links which are made of Continental silver (varies from .800 to .833 parts silver). All of the links are smooth on both sides and very light in weight. At the center of the chain is a modern, large spring ring that opens and makes it easy to change the piece that hangs from it. The spring ring is also stamped "STERLING". A gorgeous necklace that can be worn alone or layered with other Victorian silver necklaces and chains.
Measurements: The Continental silver book chain measures approximately 18.25" long, 5/8" at the widest point and a little less than 1/4" in depth. The diameter of the clasped spring ring measures approximately 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. There are no significant scratches or dents in the silver links however there is normal wear to the surface, which is not uncommon for a Victorian piece. The clasp spring ring is secure and in good working condition.
