This diamond crescent from the Victorian era (ca1887) is truly stunning! Made of silver-topped 18kt gold, the piece is French in origin and depicts a beautiful crescent moon. The surface is completely encrusted with three dozen sparkling diamonds, which are a combination of old mine cut and rose cut stones. The diamonds vary in size, and weigh approximately 1.50ctw combined, with the largest stones resting in the center, and the smaller stones lining the inner curve and crescent tips. All of the stones are bead set within the silver-topped setting. The light catches the diamonds perfectly when worn, delivering a spectacular sparkle! On the back of the piece are three removable pieces: a straight bar pin, a "c-catch" clasp, and a bail. All three pieces can be unscrewed and repositioned as desired, allowing the crescent to be worn on a chain, or fastened to a favorite garment. The number "28" and the French eagle head hallmark are stamped on the bar pin and c-catch clasp. An engraved inscription can be found within the interior curve of the crescent, which includes the date year "1887." This celestial piece is positively breathtaking, and would make an outstanding addition to any collection!

Measurements: The crescent pin measures 1" tall, 7/8" wide, and approximately 3/16" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver-topped gold setting or diamond stones, all of which are intact. The detachable bail and pin clasps are both secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which adds to the depth and character of the design.
