$1,295

A magnificent locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this stunning French-made piece adorns a gorgeous pink paste on an incredibly ornate enameled design. The oval-shaped locket holds one paste at the center, which rest in a pronged setting. Radiating outward from the center is an intricate gold leaf and turquoise enamel design, with hints of white, red, and dark blue enamel closer towards the center. Surrounding the blue enamel design is a halo of white pearls outlined in gold. The heart-shaped locket is bordered with silver beads, giving the pendant a delicate look. The reverse side is exposed silver and features a beautifully inscribed motif of scrolling lines. The locket has a large silver bail which allows the piece to be added to your favorite antique chain. The locket opens at the side to reveal a glass compartment fit with pink fabric, ready to be outfitted with a photo or memento of your loved one. The bail of the pendant is marked with a Boar and a maker's mark, indicating French origin. This beautifully elaborate and unusual locket would make a fantastic statement worn day or night!

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 1/2" long (including the bail), and measures about 1 1/8" wide, and approximately 1/2" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the enameling which is free or chips and scratches. All of the pearls and the paste are intact and securely set. One of the pearls does show a small pinhole. The locket and bail are secure and in good working order.
